Why Choose Us For Loft Conversion

A loft conversion is an intelligent and smart step to take towards space utilization. Instead of wasted loft space, through a loft conversion, you can have an extra room available in your home to be used as extra bedrooms, bathrooms, or even a gym!

A recent project for Apollo Builders Group Ltd in Leyton, London included a double dormer loft conversion (an extension to the existing house roof that projects vertically from a sloping roof, creating additional floor space and headroom within the loft space). This meant the client gained 2 additional spacious bedrooms and a bathroom! It even incorporated modern lighting, roof lights, and even a Juliette balcony. These extras are a simple way to elevate a loft conversion into a modern contemporary style. To complete the project, the carpet was fitted throughout the conversion with tiling to the bathroom, and freshly painted the walls in a pure brilliant white which created a clean and sleek look.

Here’s what the client had to say:

“Whole project from start to finish was brilliant and I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Apollo Builders to my circle. I have seen few loft conversions and building works in last few months and me and wife as a bit of a perfectionist couple, this work falls in different league. A huge thank you to the Apollo builders, in particular Ali, Salman and all their team. Speed of work was more than our expectation as whole project was wrapped up even before scheduled time. Their team members are punctual, polite and considerate. The roofer, tiler, plumber and electrician in particular did a tremendous job. We were dreaming for our loft last two years and it has come true today. Thank you so much” – Najm

Is My Loft Space Suitable For A Conversion?

Before work is able to begin in your loft space, there are a few very important questions that must be answered before you proceed. If you have any questions that we may not have covered just reach out.

So the main questions you must ask yourself:

Does my loft have enough head height when standing?

The acceptable high is 2 meters, between the finished floor and ceiling. You must account for the floor and ceiling build-up, usually, this is around 30cm. If the loft space exceeds 2 meters then great news you’re likely to be able to convert your loft! Though, if it does not don’t worry there are other ways around this and we can help you with this.

Will I require planning permission?

The large majority of loft conversions full under permitted development, meaning planning permission isn’t required if they full in-between these lines. However, there are certain situations, such as raising the roof height, living in a flat or the property is currently is being situated in a conservation area where planning permission must be carried out.

What type of conversion would suit my house?

You’re in luck! Below we’ve broken down each type of loft conversion for you!

There are 4 main options for loft conversions that you will find that are able to transform your home in under 8 weeks and increase the volume by 20%. It is crucial when doing this to take in several considerations such as light, headroom, appealing and comfortable living space, and the most amount of value you can add to your home.

Loft conversions are one of the most common and effective ways to add space and value to your home. Additional space can add an entirely new top floor to your home with endless possibilities a to what you can do with this space.

Dormer Loft Conversion

A rear dormer loft conversion is an extension to the existing roof at the rear of the property. The extension projects vertically from the sloping roof, giving you extra space, headroom, and storage within the loft area. Inside, the dormer will have vertical walls and a flat horizontal ceiling. This type of loft conversion often provides a home with a new large double bedroom or two smaller additional bedrooms and a bathroom. but it’s up to you what you do with the room!

L-Shaped Dormer Loft Conversion

An L-shaped dormer conversion is built at the rear of the home, similar to a rear dormer. Giving you additional floor space and headroom within the loft area. However, the difference is the two dormer extensions are connecting together adding considerably more space than any other conversions. Due to their shape, an L-shaped dormer conversion can be more suitable for a Victorian or an Edwardian home where the kitchen and bathroom are suited at the rear of the house.

Hip To Gable Loft Conversion

This type of loft conversion is an extension to the side of your roof area. The front and rear elevations are extended and the side roof is elevation is then removed and replaced with a vertical gable end. This type of conversion is often incorporating with a rear dormer conversion.

Mansard Loft Conversion

Mansard loft conversions often give the largest results in providing potential living spaces. However, these types of loft conversions involve the most construction work and often come at a larger cost. Mansard loft conversions are often constructed at the rear of the property but it is not uncommon to see this at the front of the home. This type of loft conversion alters the structure of your sloped roof so the gradient is close to 72 degrees. Windows and balconies (if wanted) are built into the structure of the roof as small dormers provide little extra head height when standing.

Velux Loft Conversions

One of the most simple loft conversions of them all, the roof structure will remain unchanged externally often meaning construction costs can be lower. Although, a Velux loft conversion adds an additional space most likely one bedroom.
